The Steppingstones Scholarship
Honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Marshall Foster, the Steppingstones Scholarship was established by the World History Institute to empower the next generation of young leaders to walk in the footsteps of faith-filled history makers. Each year, this scholarship provides a limited number of awards to middle and high school students (grades 8–12) to support participation in ACTS Tours’ biblical worldview travel programs. Dr. Foster believed that walking the actual ground where history was made inspires courage, vision, and conviction – and that every student should have the chance to see truth come alive.
Since its founding, the Steppingstones Scholarship has invited students to submit thoughtful, research-based essays exploring the character and calling of pivotal historical figures. Previous prompts have asked students to write about individuals such as George Washington, Squanto, William Bradford, and Mercy Otis Warren – highlighting the timeless principles of liberty, faith, and perseverance they embodied. These essays reflect not only academic insight but also a personal connection to the values each figure upheld.
The 2026 scholarship application will open this fall, with details and deadlines to be announced. Students are encouraged to check back for the new essay theme and instructions. In the meantime, all those interested in attending an ACTS Tour should reach out directly to ACTS Tours for upcoming trip dates, program availability, and registration details. Through the generosity of donors and the vision of Dr. Foster, the Steppingstones Scholarship continues to equip young men and women to stand firm in truth – and take the next step in their own journey of faith and leadership.
